Pain free

Why Does Everything Hurt After 25?

You remember when you were young, the thought of injury did not exist. You were more active, and yet you did not injure your lower back, or your knees, or your ankles. But now, one wrong step and you go back a month or two without exercise.

Here is why -

Movement.

You see as a kid, you were running around, jumping, playing every single day, and all the time.
You would go to school, play, come back home, and play more. Barely sit during the day. And even if you did, it was only for an hour or two at a stretch no?

Your body was used to the idea of stress.

It was training on a daily basis.

Life after 25

Today on the other hand, you would probably sit in the office for 8- 10 hours and then try to fit in all your day’s muscle use within like an hour of gym or running.

If you do go to the gym, you would probably know the concept of progressive overload.
It is when you increase the weights for a training exercise only slightly over your comfort range, so that your body pushes itself without injuring yourself.

Nobody would go to the gym and try a 200kg deadlift. That is a sure way to break your back.

But give it a year of training, slowly progressing over time, and 200 may end up being easy.

Our bodies are resilient. They are designed to adapt to their surroundings but it takes time.

But then how to prevent injury?

1. Take it slow. If you are not an active person and want to get into fitness, take it slow. Start with small weights, and less time, and gradually increase your load, or your running mileage.

2. Don’t act on ego. A lot of times we would be motivated in the moment to go all out, only to injure ourselves which would set us back months. Don’t.

3. Micro dose workouts all day long. Don’t try to fit in the entirety of your movement and training in a couple hours. Even picking up a pen from the ground is a workout, find them throughout your day. And if you wanna make every step a workout, try being barefoot more often, and in places you cannot, use barefoot shoes.

4. Keep moving. Don’t sit in one place for too long. Even if you have a desk job. Find reasons to walk around the office. Motion is lotion.

5. Listen to your body. Your body will tell you when you are pushing beyond your limits. Learn the difference between soreness and pain. We were lied to when they said “Pain is gain”.

Conclusion

In the long run, all of us are looking to find a better connection with our bodies, and injuries can come in our way to this goal. Even if it takes more time, train safely, train properly and you will live a fuller life.

Hi,
These things about your muscles, bones and overall health you dont think when you are in no pain. Pain gives you these opportunities. what naturally our body is capable of and in the shadow of comfort what we have done to our bodies. After injuring myself i just wish i would have used the traditional and naturals way to live rather than comfort. I like your idea. Would like to connect.
