Ergonomic Desk Chair For Office

Ergonomic Products For Lower Back Pain Or Scam

Ergonomic as a term is defined and used in the context of furniture, where the furniture is designed in a way to improve working conditions and help you work more efficiently.

When you were a kid, you probably sat on all kinds of furniture, and in places that had no furniture. Your back never hurt then, but today it does and big marketing has convinced you that you need the super expensive ergonomically perfect chair to do something as basic as sitting.
Do we live in a world where even sitting requires support?

Probably not.

Yes your working hours are long, a lot of it requires you to hunch over a laptop screen with your shoulders rounded and some support feels like the best way to negate all these harmful habits.

The simple issue with this mindset is that no product can solve problems that are created on a daily basis by habit. If you keep sitting in one place, even in the most comfortable position, your back will complain.

Your body, and especially your back is designed to move. Move for hours at a stretch. There is a reason you have vertebrae that help you bend in all directions and even forward with a fully rounded back (that a lot of people claim is bad for you.)

Any position held for too long will lead to stiffness and muscle deterioration, which in turn will lead to long term pain.

Locking your back in the best ergonomic position does not ensure being pain free. Maybe it saves you from one problem, but it will only create another.

The only sustainable solution to pain is movement.

Here is what you can do to work on being pain free -

  1. Keep moving - take regular breaks and move between meetings

  2. Work on a standing desk - we are designed to run and move, sitting causes shortening of the QL muscle and causes lower back pain

  3. Strengthen your lower back with isometric holds and back extensions. A strong back is a pain free back

Lifestyle problems can only be solved with lifestyle changes and any product that promises otherwise is lying.

At Zen Barefoot, we aim to enable lifestyle changes, your body has to do the job.
